Happy #MakerMonday! We are so stoked to highlight this week’s maker… Mykel of Banzelcroft Customs.
Right from the jump, Mykel, (owner, creator, machinist, and head knife nerd-in-charge of @banzelcroftcustoms) has been an “outside the box” thinker. With 7 years under his belt, he has proven himself to be a shining member of our community.
I was able to catch up with Mykel in person at @bladeshow, which is always a delight. I’m never quite sure which I spot first - his unique gear or his contagious smile.
Mykel started down the EDC rabbit hole when he set out to make his ideal knife. Not one for repetitive, mundane tasks (looking at you bevel grinding), he focused on creating a utility knife with a replaceable blade, while highlighting his artistic flair with hand-made handles. It didn’t take long before the MEK (Modern Everyday Kiridashis) was born.
Mykel works with a variety of materials and after checking out all of his incredible work at Blade, we selected a pair of MEKs with an exquisite linear pattern made of Fordite, a material made up of layers of dried spray paint removed from automotive factories. It is one of the coolest materials around - boasting unique color combinations and patterns.
Snag one, or both, of these killer MEKs during our 6/15 Pocket Update.
